TESTIMONIALS

Hey Daniel,
You got my voice back on track. I had NO issues singing the high parts with ease. (Re)Discovered the anchoring you were talking bout. Been playing with going light in the nosebleed range and . . . . I can actually hit the notes accurately and it sounds prettier than trying to punch it. So BIG THANK YOU!

Daniel, as great as you are as a singer, I really hope for you that you get some day real famous, but please not before we are finished with my singing education. I really need you as my vocal coach for the next years!

I’m a 36 years old guitar player from Germany. I started learning to sing 1.5 yearsago, after I realized I will never find a good singer for my band. For the first year I had lessons with one of those self titled “world class vocalcoach”. At the third lesson I was told that I have a lot of problems. After 9 months he told me that I will never be a good singer, unless how much I will practice. That was the time I realized he couldn’t sing by himself. After a while I knew I have to move on if I want to be a singer. My next vocal coach should be an awesome singer, and this is hard to find. After I discovered Daniel, I knew he is the perfect coach for me.

At our first lesson I really felt the difference to my previous lessons. I felt that Daniel’s teaching and exercises can turn me into a singer, not just be able to hit high notes. No book or DVD course can show you the things Daniel teach me at every lesson.

One real big difference to my previous lessons is, that Daniel’s lessons are personalized. I had a lot of problems like grabbing, squeezing and straining. Daniel focused since our first lessons on these bad habits and after some months they were nearly gone away. Another great thing is, that Daniel is searching for ways that work for me and not just for him. Now I’m Daniel’s student for about 5 months. I sing pretty high songs from bands like Alter Bridge, The Police and The Beatles. Most of the time singing those high notes is pretty easy and I can relaxed hit them. Often it feels like I just open the mouth and the tone is there. Before we start lessons together I wasn’t be able to hit a D4 without straining.

Another unbelievable thing is, that my low/mid voice is now real big. All the resonance is taking over and it feels like I can play with this resonance to let my voice go from small to very big. Before our first lesson I told Daniel that I wanted to take one lesson a month, after my previous experiences more is not really necessary. But his lessons turn out such helpful, that I can’t imagine taking lessons less than every two weeks. Since I’m Daniel’s student I don’t feel anymore that I’m alone without any real help to become a singer.

Thank you so much for being such patient, a great vocal coach and person! I really appreciate that you take a lot of time at every lesson to be sure that I understand everything, even if every lesson went over far beyond the 60 minutes, and of course taking time between the lessons when I have questions. Every lesson is a real experience and I know you enjoy every lesson as much as I do!

I don’t know any singer in California that works as hard as Danny. Actually, I don’t know any singer that works as hard as Danny. If there’s a weak spot in himself, he hunts it down, and finds a way to kill it. As a performer, it’s the same. and it’s that kind of passion that makes him a great teacher. I’ve known Danny a long time. He’s one of my oldest, closet friends. And there’s a reason why. Most people phone it in. Danny doesn’t. He loves music too much.

From the first lesson with Daniel, he focused on the styles of music that I want to sing. I no longer need to translate lessons into real world singing. Within a month, my voice improved considerably. It required a lot of work on my part (5 to 6 days per week of consistent practice for at least 1/2 to 1 hour). What I noticed first was that my voice had changed; there were sounds coming out of my mouth that I’d never dreamed were possible. I now feel confident when singing in public that I don’t sound like an opera singer trying (unsuccessfully) to get in the groove. If you’ve every heard an opera singer trying to sing the blues, you’ll get the idea.

Daniel has taught me how to push into a note and cry feeling into a phrase. Taking care of my voice is part of instruction. I have a personalized short and long warm up with plenty of great exercises to keep the instrument in good form. I’d heard of breath control before, but, MAN, I didn’t realize that I was SO far from breath control. It is a major part of the singing apparatus that I was not using for its intended purpose. Also, I had a disconnect between my head voice and chest voice that made song choices very difficult. Now, it doesn’t really matter which song and I’m no longer limited to a narrow range of keys. I can sing it with strength throughout my range instead of always being light in the higher registers. Through Daniel’s instruction I’ve also discovered the best range for my voice; this is the area where it feels effortless and sounds resonant.

One thing you will have to get used to – Daniel is always learning and trying to improve his own voice. His energy is infectious! Lastly, I’ve never felt ashamed of what I was doing wrong during lessons, he would just redirect and help me to do it a different way.

If you want to improve your singing voice and are willing to put in the effort, you can’t go wrong with Daniel as a teacher.

I am a professional singer and have been working with Danny onstage for several years. Not only is he a blast to work with and a very dynamic and entertaining performer, he is a very talented, trained and knowledgeable singer and teacher. He has an undying thirst for knowledge about the voice and the way it works, and has sought out the best teachers to study with. Through all his study, he has combined all that he has learned and has evolved his own method which he puts into practice every day. I myself have studied with many teachers who have lots of knowledge and ‘technical’ information, but don’t put it into practice, so it only remains a theory. Danny lives it, breathes it. And he is super passionate about it! Through his practical explanations and demonstrations, he has helped me to understand my voice and put ‘theory’ into practice.

Danny Formica is amazing! Very down to earth and EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the voice and singing. I warm up to Danny’s practice CD he made for me every night on tour and my voice has continued to improve and become stronger as time goes on. Before going to Danny I would lose my voice after only a couple shows but not anymore. I would recommend Danny to people of all talent levels who want to sing better and strengthen their voice.

My band tours from LA to NY to AZ and back, in planes, trains and automobiles. I always bring my CDs from my vocal sessions with Danny, so no matter what condition or time of day, my voice is ready and warmed up. In the two years since my first session with him, I went from simply singing back up vocals in a power pop band, to fronting my own rock band, fronting an ACDC cover band, and I get consistent work in LA adding vocals live and in studio for fellow musicians (The Mulhollands, Audra Mae, Ruby Friedman Orchestra, RubySue Flores, etc). My band, The Shakers, has opened for Everclear, played a sold out performance at The TLA (Fillmore) in PA, and on the horizon is a pre-game performance for NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes at the Jobing.com Arena in Arizona. I’ve grown so much vocally, but also in confidence. I get asked a lot who my vocal teacher is, and I’m proud to say: Daniel Formica.

I’ve Known Dan over twenty years, He is an amazing guitar player who practiced 6 hours a day. When he took to singing…he was a good singer, and for Dan that didn’t cut it. He strives to be the best he can be at everything he does. Dan sings for a living 4 to 5 days a week and 3 to 4 hours at a time…That is insane!!! Dan has worked with all the best vocal coaches the world has to offer and has come to know and master his voice thru trial and error and out of necessity. I have never met anyone more passionate about the voice. If you are looking for a voice coach that CAN sing by example and truly help you in a way that makes sense, no BS… you NEED to call Dan Formica! Get ready for real results!!

I have a neurological condition called Spasmodic Dysphonia, which causes numerous vocal breaks when I speak and when I sing. I have had several voice instructors, but no one has ever been able to help me much. While important to every singer, Daniel’s work with me on sound ‘placement’ has been particularly beneficial. At each lesson, he develops exercises on the spot to specifically address problems I am having, rather than relying on a specific set of exercises. His musical ear is exceptional and even though our lessons are online via Skype, I feel like he is right there with me. His approach of treating the voice as ‘one voice’ and the concept of singing in ‘full voice’ rather than chest, bridge and head voice are right on the money. Six months ago I struggled to hold out a G (above middle C) in full voice. Now I am able to hold out a B flat below tenor high C. This is NOT in just head voice…this is in FULL voice, so the sound is strong, powerful and rich. He is one of the most versatile singers I have ever heard and he can sing and teach just about any style…and can do so in a healthy manner. He has learned from many of the best voice teachers around and has distilled his experiences down to one simple secret…that there are NO secrets! Like most meaningful things in life, singing comes down to doing the work and putting in the time. If you are willing to do those things, Daniel can get you where you want to go. Whether you are a beginner or advanced and whether you have a healthy voice or have had vocal problems, I urge you to contact Daniel Formica.

Hi Daniel, just want to let you know, that I sung today some songs after I practiced your exercises for more than 4 hours. I couldn’t believed it, I could sing high songs, up to the b4 without much effort. The squeezing was minimal. My voice felt many, many
times better than 3 months before. It was awesome!!! Now I believe I can get is some
day, although it will be a long way to go. Just wanted to thank you, I’m very excited now!
Hope we can work for a long time together 🙂
Have a nice vacation in Hawaii

Daniel Formica is one of the best and most awesome vocal teachers I have ever had. Within a session, he already helped me clarify and comprehend tons of things I was so confused about for such a long time.

Being passionate about his craft, he has done so much research into vocal pedagogy and applies it into his performances. Hence, when he explains the concepts to you and demonstrates it, he really knows what he is talking about.

Many teachers can simply do exercises or drills but they are not able to cross that infernal chasm where real life application comes in. The proof is in the pudding, they say and Daniel is one who can really sing astoundingly well and also show you how these exercises can work for you.

Moreover, he is not like other vocal teachers who try to rip you off with marketing strategies and formulaic mantras. This is someone who really understands the intricacies of the voice and knows how to help you master your God given instrument. He wants you to succeed and he desires to give you the tools to teach yourself so that you can be a master of the voice.

So why wait any longer? There are many vocal charlatans out there but Daniel Formica is the real deal and he IS THE MAN you go to for your vocal solutions man! I will run to him if I were you!

Hey Dan, just wanted to say thanks, for helping me get my voice into shape for this last band audition, while I didn’t get the gig…I beat out 50 guys and got to the final 2 vocalists, the material was very vocally challenging and I couldn’t have even imagined singing some of it, but your experience and technique worked… So now I sit and practice to Boston and Journey tunes till the next bad ass band comes along!
